Top 10 Beauty Blogs

Whether you’re looking for pro makeup tips, product recommendations or beauty inspiration, there’s a blog out there for you. Welcome to MsMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the top 10 Beauty Blogs.
For this list, we’re looking at some of the best blogs on beauty as well as lifestyle blogs that focus on the subject and basing our choices on their popularity and the quality of their content.

#10: A Model Recommends

Seasoned fashion model Ruth Crilly takes her insider expertise and weighs in on all things beauty on her blog, A Model Recommends. You may recognize her from the pages of your favorite fashion magazine since she has been appearing in editorials and ad campaigns for over a decade. As a model, Crilly has tested out almost every beauty product under the sun, so she really knows her stuff. She also prides herself in being transparent about the free samples she receives as well as the sponsored content that she publishes, ensuring readers that - paid or not - everything she writes about is something she genuinely loves.

#9: I Covet Thee

British beauty darling Alix Coburn blogs about makeup, skincare and fashion at I Covet Thee. Alix is charming and funny and the blog’s sparse white and pastel aesthetic is just as appealing as the content within. Not only can viewers get beauty advice, but they can also get a peek into life in the South of England. Head over to Alix’s YouTube channel for easy tutorials and epic makeup hauls. Learning to do a smokey eye sounds so much better with a British accent. The only problem for fans outside the UK is the number of products that Alix uses that aren’t available to us.

#8: Beauty Is Boring

If you’re looking for on-trend beauty inspiration, look no further. Makeup artist and photographer Robin Black founded Beauty Is Boring back in 2012 and hasn’t looked back. The blog has taken off, becoming one of the most popular in the beauty category. You’ll recognize the faces of top models on this site because Black has worked for New York Fashion Week and her work has appeared in Vogue, Allure and Elle. Make sure you have plenty of time on your hands before you start scrolling through this one though, as you’ll want to try out every one of the unique and edgy looks that Black creates.

#7: Beauty Banter

Writer and beauty consultant Sarah Howard started her blog in 2006, making it one of the longest standing on our list. Imagine how different the beauty trends must have been back then! Beauty Banter has always been on top of the latest it-products, considering Howard has practically been an insider in the beauty industry since she was born. Her father is the owner of Pierre Michel salon and used to own Make Up For Ever. Beauty Banter even has a “trends” tab where you can go to get the lowdown on the latest idea you came across on Instagram or YouTube.

#6: The Anna Edit

The third Brit on our list, Anna Gardner, is the voice behind The Anna Edit, previously known as Vivianna Does Makeup. Anna is one of those bloggers that you just know you would be friends with, winning over legions of readers with her warm personality. She started her blog in 2011 when she was still a student as a way to procrastinate from her studying and couldn’t have imagined how far it would take her. Recently, as Anna has embarked on a fitness and wellness journey, her blog has morphed to include workout tips and healthy recipes alongside the makeup recommendations readers have come to love.

#5: Into The Gloss

If you’re a reality TV fan, you may remember Into The Gloss’s founder Emily Weiss as the “super intern” who intimidated Lauren and Whitney in season 2 of The Hills. ITG, as it’s known by fans, is a must read for those desperate to peer into the makeup bags and bathroom cabinets of successful women. Their “The Top Shelf” feature shares an inside look at the beauty routines of trendsetters from every industry. Following the success of the blog, Weiss and her team started Glossier, a cult cool-girl makeup brand perfect for creating natural, dewy looks.

#4: Estée Lalonde

Popular Canadian YouTube star Essie Button changed her look and name in 2015, making the decision to target a more grown up audience under her real name: Estée Lalonde. With her new adult persona, she made the content of her blog more geared towards older readers as well. She now talks about books, home decor, fragrance and of course, makeup. The layout of Lalonde’s blog is gorgeous, displaying all of her posts in an easy to navigate grid. Her YouTube channel has become more diverse and she even started a second channel, Everyday Estée, where she shares more about her personal and home life.

#3: Lisa Eldridge

The thing that makes Lisa Eldridge’s work so appealing is the simplicity of it. Whether you want to learn how to do a smokey eye or vampy lipstick, after watching one of her videos you’ll wonder how it ever seemed difficult. Eldridge’s website has garnered her a serious fan following, but she still manages to keep up her work as an internationally renowned makeup artist, working for top fashion magazines and luxury brands. Her long list of celebrity clients is enviable, and includes Kate Moss, Cate Blanchett, and Kate Winslet- and that’s just the Kates!

#2: Tanya Burr's Beauty Blog

English vlogger Tanya Burr has been on YouTube since 2009 and has been blogging since 2011. Since then she has gone from simple beauty enthusiast to makeup artist and business owner. Burr has even started her own makeup line, Tanya Burr Cosmetics, and has published two books. Some of Tanya Burr’s most popular videos are those where she teaches you how to get the beauty looks of your favorite celebrities, so if you’ve ever wanted skin like Emma Stone or a bold look like Cara Delevigne, be sure to subscribe to her YouTube channel.

Before we reveal our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

- Cult of Pretty

- She’s In The Glow

- Dreaming in Blush

#1: The Beauty Department

The Beauty Department is the go-to spot for on-trend how-tos. Whether you want to try out the latest fad in nail art, get recommendations for the best skincare or test out a new hairstyle, this is the place to go. Started by Kristin Ess and Amy Nadine, The Beauty Department boasts over a thousand tutorials for your experimenting pleasure. If you’re not a big YouTube fan, their photo tutorials make learning new hair and makeup tricks a cinch without the time investment of watching a full video. The biggest challenge is not running out to buy every product they recommend.
