Top 10 Creepiest Video Game Children

Not every child is a little bundle of joy. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be counting down our Top 10 Creepy Video Game Children.

Kids are supposed to be celebrated, but the innocence, joy, and happy go-lucky attitude that’s supposed to make us smile is exactly why they can be so terrifying when given the right tools and motives. Whether they’re exacting revenge, killing their family, haunting dreams or suffering from insanity, our list focuses only the scariest children in gaming.

#10: Cherub
“Doom 3” (2004)

In a game packed with frightening foes, this is still the one that gamers talk about more than 10 years later. The little flying baby torsos may be easy enough to take down individually, but it always seems like there’s an infinite supply flying around each corner, beckoning you closer and closer before lashing out before you have timeto react. When you’re locked into a firefight, the adrenaline starts pumping, and the bullets start flying with the little demon spawns they might not seem so bad, but you’ll hear their cries long before you see them, and those few seconds are enough to send chills down anyone’s spine.

#9: Crawlers
“Dead Space 2” (2011)

People around the world have long been saying that there’s nothing like the connection between a child and its mother, but these insect infants definitely put that bond to the test. From the first time players saw one crawl upside down to its mother waiting arms and subsequently explode, killing them both, they knew they were going to be in for long, sleep-ness nights. The contorted spine, the slug-like movements, the blood-curdling cries and their volatile nature are all of the enduring features that add up to one infamously creepy enemy.

#8: The Child
“Catherine” (2011)

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and this grotesque baby nightmare certainly finds itself at the top of that list of things to be worried about. Incessantly crying for its daddy as Vincent scrambles his way up the tower, your patricidal offspring will do everything in its power to impede your progress and drag you back down to the depths. And if escaping it just once wasn’t heart-racing enough, the Child comes back even more terrifying, grotesque, and of course, deformed. The chainsaw is nice final touch, too.

#7: Alice
“America McGee’s Alice” series (2000-2011)

Fans who found themselves pining for new adventures in Wonderland’s whimsical setting were given something a little different than anyone could reasonably expect with this twisted take on the tale. Throwing everything we thought we knew about Alice to the wind, this new, infinitely creepier model is dark, twisted, and quite frankly, insane. Finding herself in a mental institution following the loss of her parents in a housefire, Alice has to make her way back through the corrupted Wonderland and save the day. Just one look into those black, soulless eyes is enough to let you know that this is most definitely not the lost little girl you grew up with.

#6: Grand Nazi Fetus
“South Park: The Stick of Truth” (2014)

Cranking up the absurdity to a comically disturbing level, Trey and Matt definitely hit a home run with these Hitler saluting abortions. As if designed solely to offend as many people as possible, these grey skinned umbilical wielding little pests constantly shouted German at every possible moment, interfering with gamers’ progressuntil theyreached the big baddie leading the way. There’s so much going on here that it would be easy to dismiss them as a joke, but there’s something about how over the top and excessive they are that makes them creepy all the same.

#5: Flandre Scarlett
“Touhou Project” Series (1996-2014)

This childish 495 year old vampire definitely combines the worst of both worlds.Featuring the outward emotional immaturity of a toddler with her at-firsthidden, completely evil tendencies,Flandre Scarlett is everything that creeps us out about children. One of her favorite hobbies includes destroying anything she comes in contact with, she lives in a Devil Mansion, and she’s obsessed with “playing” with us at every opportunity. After learning all of that, we almost preferred when she was peppering us with bullets, just so we wouldn’t have to hear her talk anymore.

#4: Skull Kid
“The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask” (2000)

With a face only a mother could love, the infamous thief of Majora’s Mask is definitely the most ambitious of all the creepy children. Using his newfound powers purelyfor the sake of apocalyptic revenge, the Skull Kid wastes no time in robbing Link, transforming him into a helpless deku shrub, and sending the moon on a collision course to Termina. While he may not be as outwardly creepy as some of the other entries on this list, his erratic, almost psychopathic behavior definitely grabbed the attention of Zelda fans and ushered his way into the series pantheon of creepy foes.

#3: The Botchling
“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” (2015)

Proving that bigger isn’t always better, this cursed, discarded baby is absolutely one of the creepiest things about the franchise. Preying on pregnant women, this resurrected stillborn cranks the creepiness factor up to eleven. While the game gives players the choice to either lift the curse or permanentlylay the fetus to rest, we were way too disturbed to ever try and save it. Whether it’s the oddly realistic flesh tones or the umbilical cord wrapped around its torso, the design of this entry was just a little too real, and we can proudly admit that Geralt is braver than we are for going toe to toe with these freaky children.

#2: Little Sisters
“Bioshock” Series (2007-)

It takes great skill to wrap an enemy up in an innocent looking package and stillscare gamers at every turn, and that’s what makes these ADAM gatherers so special. While they look harmless enough walking around barefoot in the dark hallways of Rapture, their glowing eyes pierce through the darkness and you knowthat the Big Daddies are never far behind. The more gamers discovered about them the creepier they got, and even though they were terrifying and too far gone to save completely, we still felt a little bit bad harvesting them when needed. Iconic of the franchise, there are not many children out there who can capture the imagination like these little girls of the sunken city.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few Honorable Mentions:

Babies
“Dante’s Inferno” (2010)

Joshua
“Silent Hill: Homecoming” (2008)

Sink Baby
“P.T” (2014)

#1: Alma Wade
“F.E.A.R” Series (2005-14)

Take everything scary about modern horror games and throw them into a child-sized package, and you have a contender for nightmare fuel for the ages. Pools of blood, jump scares, corpses and the traditional flickering lights all stem from the twisted mind of a little girl in a red dress. The telepathic antagonist takes many forms throughout the series, but is consistently shocking, powerful, and downright terrifying. Shrouded in mystery and capable of taking down anything and everyone in her path with relative ease, the little girlat the center of the F.E.A.R universe is hands down the creepiest child in video gaming history.
