For this list, we’ve looked at YouTube fitness videos that aim to get their audiences into good physical shape – especially after the holidays. We’ve ranked the videos in order of their effectiveness, usefulness, as well as number of views. We’ve also tried to choose workouts that target all of the areas of our bodies where we’d most like to burn fat and tone up.

Our first video is both of those things, as Carly Rowena walks us through a standard session at the gym. There’s nothing too frightening here, but it’ll have you feeling fit in no time, all the same. Rowena’s ‘Legs, Butt and Abs’ routine is especially engaging, as it turns the sometimes intimidating gym atmosphere into one that we’d all want to be a part of.

She keeps things to a simple, steady count, and routinely rolls it back from the top. There’s plenty of time to make a mistake, and there’s plenty of time to put it to right. Before you know it, you’ll be booty-shakin’ like Shakira!

When aiming for the perfect bikini body, many of us overlook our arms, but Tone It Up’s Karena is doing no such thing. The Bikini series has a higher production level than some exercise videos, giving us a wide variety of angles, shots, and slo-mo effects. In this particular clip, there’s a ‘show don’t tell’ focus, as all things biceps, triceps and shoulders are systematically tackled. The beach setting gives you something to strive for as well. It’s all about having the body confidence to strut your stuff on the sand!

Her instructions are always clear, she’s constantly smiling, she’s always in control, and the overall atmosphere of her videos is a nicely appealing one. For Adrienne, in life, ‘the journey is the reward’… And this video could easily prove to be the vital first step on your journey to yoga-inspired health, fitness and happiness.

If you’re watching this video, then chances are you’re a fan of the countdown format, and that’s exactly what we’re looking at next. This video’s a five-star, top five lesson on how to lose that frustrating fat on the lower abs. Delivered by Blogilates personality Cassey Ho (cassie), it really pinpoints the problem area and gives multiple suggestions on how to slim it down. At the end of the clip, Cassey directs us to other, similarly specific work out/Pilates routines, and it’s not a bad idea to do as she says. These videos are like building blocks to body perfection.

Okay, so any video tagging itself as a ‘Victoria’s Secret Workout’ is maybe a little intimidating at first… But press play on this one, and you’ll be working out with a big smile on your face. It’s a full body session of high-intensity activity, meaning it’s an ultra-effective use of a fairly short time period. Celebrity trainer Andrea Orbeck takes the lead, with two other exercisers in a classic formation, to watch and imitate. And, thanks to the timer top left and the rep-counter at the bottom of the screen, you never feel lost, no matter what your ability.

Whether or not we like to admit it, when it comes to looking good, some of us are looking at celebrities. And there’s nothing wrong with that - as our next channel, XHIT Daily (x-hit) understands. Do you want a Beyoncé butt? These guys will get it for you! Or Jessica Alba abs? How about Miley Cyrus legs? The latter is a specific, intense workout for your legs with an injection of energy above and beyond most competitors. The rep-counter is put to good use again, allowing us to at least see how much more pain there is ahead.

As a presenter, she’s just the right side of intimidating, and therefore, just the right amount of inspiring and motivating. The 30-minute video format is built with a clear end goal in mind, and by dividing the routine into 3 ability levels, everyone can take part. The ‘6 Week Six-Pack’ series is typical of Michaels… Painful, yes, but professional as well. And if it gets you abs like those, it’ll be worth it!
