Meningitis is an inflammation in the protective tissue around the brain and spinal cord, and it is transmitted through droplets (saliva that is spread through sneezes or coughing) or sharing food, drinks, etc. There has been a lot of success in preventing the illness with vaccinations; however it is a difficult disease to discern as it manifests in a similar way to the flu.
