Interview with The Joy Formidable Formed in 2007 in North Wales, The Joy Formidable began when childhood friends Ritzy Bryan and Rhydian Dafydd decided to make music together. They released an EP in 2009 and replaced drummer Justin Stahley with Matt Thomas. The band then relocated to London, where they continued to play shows and released their debut record, "The Big Roar," in 2011.
