She eventually studied chemistry at Oxford University, before eventually beginning her political career. By 1959, she was a Member of Parliament, and she continued expanding her political horizons as a member of the Opposition. Thatcher finally became party leader in 1975, and within four years she was Prime Minister. Her controversial decisions gave her fluctuating approval ratings through her tenure; however there is no doubt that Margaret Thatcher indelibly changed British politics forever.
