St. John's is the capital of Newfoundland, an island province found at the most Eastern point of Canada. The city dates back to June 24, 1497 and earned it name after explorer John Cabot became the first European to sail into its harbour. Today the city is home to some 100,000 citizens.

Of note, developed in the early 16th century, Water Street remains to this day the oldest street in North America, while George Street holds more bars per square foot than any other street in the continent.

St. John's is also host of the oldest continuously held annual sporting event in North America: the Royal St. John's Regatta, an annual event first held in 1816.
