City: Tripoli
Country: Libya

The capital of Libya is a port on the Mediterranean and it is a commercial, industrial, administrative, and transportation center.  The population of the city is 1.68 million and the language spoken is Arabic.  Tripoli is also the site of the National Government and because of its long history there are many archaeological sites that are of historical significance.  The Phoenicians founded the city in the 7th century BC, and it has evolved much over the centuries. The “old world” part of the city still retains much of its charms and character and the ambiance of an old city.
