1. Final out of Don Larsen’s perfect game in 1956. Yogi’s leap will live forever.
2. Reggie Jackson’s third homer in 1977. Next time they show it, watch how far back in the batter’s eye this ball lands.
3. Mickey Mantle’s walk-off homer in 1964. Signature moment for The Mick, keeps Barney Schultz’s name on Yankee fans’ lips.
4. Tino Martinez/Scott Brosius game tying homers in 2001. Once, unbelievable, Twice? Still can’t believe it happened, and I did cover these games for The Courant.
5. Joe Girardi’s triple, or Charlie Hayes catching final out in 1996. Eighteen years is a long time between drinks for Yankees fans.
6. Tino Martinez’s grand slam in 1998. A total stunner.
7. Thurman Munson struggling to his feet in 1978. To me, this symbolized him.
8. Grover Cleveland Alexander’s strikeout of Tony Lazzeri in 1926. Contrary to popular myth, I did not cover this game for the Courant.
9. Al Gionfriddo’s catch in 1947. … Old-time Brooklyn fans would probably rank this much higher.
10. Tommy Henrich’s walk-off homer in 1949.
