is a fact of life; the challenge is to know
how to respond when it hits.
Identify
The Triggers
What
makes you tick? What makes you lose your
cool? Isolate the trigger by detaching yourself
from the source.
Modify
Your Reactions
If
the first thing you do when feeling stressed
is having a cigarette, then try to eat.
If you usually eat,
go for a walk. If you drink liquor, make
yourself some green tea or grab a cup of
coffee if you wish.
Body
And Mind
Meditate,
biofeedback, massage, exercise, aromatherapy,
yoga, breathing techniques, aerobic exercise,
working out – some will render you
nauseous, others will not. Find out what
works for you and just do them.
Support
Network
Whether
you need to vent, complain or scream, have
a group of people that can lend a shoulder
or spare a moment to listen. Do not be shy
to let it all out. When water boils, steam
comes out of the kettle: why should you
keep it in?
Whatever
you do, do not get into a habit of turning
to the bottle.
