College Relationships: What Is Priority #1?

Understand what will make you happy in order to find happiness. Whatever you choose to do, you should determine where your priorities lie: school, having a good time with friends, finding a mate or working to make a buck.

Seize The Moment

The first week of a semester is the critical time. This is when you can pretty much walk up to anyone and strike up a conversation. This applies especially to class where confusion over lectures, hours, exams and grading reign supreme. But you can even go up to anyone in hallways, cafeteria and the campus in general to seek help. From then on, just be yourself and you never know where things will go.

Be Yourself

As you can imagine, being yourself is a tip for life in general, not just for business or relationships. You have to be yourself because sincerity is crucial in forging long lasting and healthy relationships. Would you not want others to be the same?

Just A Gigolo…

If you find yourself agonizing over many potential partners at once, fret not. A sudden increase in ''supply'' can cause irrational exuberance on the part of the consumer. But before you make a rash decision and get yourself in trouble, here are some tips.

Tug Of War

Even the best hitters in baseball do not connect 6 or 7 times for every 10 at-bats. If you thought that making contact with a ball coming at you at 90 miles per hour was harder than hooking up with another person, you have another thing coming. While a baseball is thrown at you and you must make contact, relationships are quite the opposite. The more you tug, the more the other person will have a tendency to pull away.

Who Are You?

Assuming you have decided that you need a mate, then make sure you know what you have to offer as a person. What are your preferences and your dislikes? Depending on your age, past relationships and their experiences, not all of you will be in the same boat. Some of you may even have a boyfriend or girlfriend back home. All of this to say that going out to find a mate is much easier to handle and understand once you grasp where you stand in life.

What Do You Want?

Make a list of what kind of person you are looking for. Throughout college, men and women are visual creatures. Over time, women tend to emphasize other factors. But men have a tendency to make their decisions based on the physical. There is nothing wrong with eye candy, but do not expect the relationship to blossom with nothing else.
