Problems

Management Of Information Systems

One of the fields where resources from outside of the classroom are important is MIS. After all, by the time the textbook is researched, written, printed, shipped and purchased – technology has probably improved at a reduced cost. Most IT classes teach you frameworks to understand how to analyze, assess and choose what technology to go with.

A good way to be leaps and bounds ahead of others is to read IT magazines. Visit corporate websites of non-tech companies. A web site says a lot about a firm's IT outlook. Then visit IT companies' websites and dig deeper to find out what they do, what their solutions are and how they make money. This is very important as some have poured billions to do some great things but lost money in the process. If you are really hard-core about IT, then it may be good to visit message boards where techies discuss details of the industry, new developments and debate future trends. You should remain a silent witness and absorb information like a sponge until you feel confident enough about what you would say.
