Job Interviews: The Phone Call

Before getting an invitation to come in for a job interview, you may be contacted for a first screening via phone.

Before you answer: "I applied for that?" – a good general suggestion is to keep track of who you sent your CV to. Keep a spreadsheet of where you applied, who has contacted you, who has not, when you made initial contact and whether there was anything in particular that made the position stand out.

The best advice in the recruiting process and in business is be on the ball. Show them that you remember when and where you made the contact and to illustrate that you are one candidate who they cannot deny.
