Business School Majors

Finance

The role of the financial manager is to maximize value. Unlike accountants who mostly collect data, finance students are called upon to examine data in order to come up with some form of conclusion and recommendation. This conclusion is often based on accounting principles, but it needs to take into consideration marketing theories, technological feasibility and good old common sense, something often lacking in business circles.

Financiers seek to maximize return while minimizing risk. In general, they are more risk-taking in nature, reflected in turbulent and unpredictable career paths in line with overall stock market performance. Finance forces you to examine the bottom line of everything that goes on in business to ensure that output is optimal given the level of input.

Other Majors include:

Accounting

Decision Sciences

Entrepreneurship

Finance

Human Resources, Management & Organizational Behavior

Management of Information Systems

Marketing

International Business

And of course, don't forget your electives.
