Electives: Choose Wisely – Who Moved The Cheese?

The flip side to choosing a major is selecting which classes to take to complete your degree. Assuming you do not declare a minor and have some room to work with, you will have the choice to select easy, straightforward classes or opt for classes that challenge you.

Take classes that will complete you as a person. Recognize your weaknesses so you can compensate them. Take classes that interest you so you can be ahead of the curve while others are agonizing over their boredom.

Business classes and the overall curriculum are helpful in breaking up any situation and seeing what the various roads to take are. This being said, many of the world’s problems cannot be put in a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis in the hope of coming out with a best alternative. The world is complex and no two people or situations are alike. This said, using a SWOT analysis remains very much in vogue these days.

As companies tackle on new issues in new countries:

- Anthropology and Geography classes will help you in your development as an entrepreneur or a company person.

- History classes will help you understand the future.

- Sociology and Psychology classes will give you a leg up on everyone else when it comes to getting the most out of your employees, earning the trust of colleagues and the respect of your bossif you choose to have one that is.
