Dating: Mixed Vibrations

Men and women may hint at some form of physical and psychological intimacy but it is hard to know what the inner feelings are. Both genders are thus victims of mixed signals. Often, you hear someone imply that you should be together. Is this a sign or merely a joke? It all depends on how it is said and how often it is repeated.

At other times, people say that they wish you could find someone who made you happy. The problem is they rarely recommend anyone. If a girl introduces a guy to her friend, obviously she is not interested in anything more than friendship in the guy.

But imagine if a guy says the same but has no one to offer. Maybe he is the one that wants to make her happy. These are small, subtle ways to understand what someone is actually trying to get at. In love, life and business, what you see is not what you get, so dig deeper.

There are the more obvious signs: anytime someone is extra sweet to you could be a sign that they are interested. Yes, it may be that they want a favor, but often this is genuine. Other times, this person may speak to friends about you. Unless they are making fun of you, take this as a good sign. After all, imagine you show up at a girl's place on your way to class and all of her roommates know your likes and dislikes. Or better yet, imagine calling her home and her sister, parents and neighbors know who you are, even though you live miles away.

Other strong signs include a desire to hang out with you, being invited to places and even encounters when you least expect it.

Women are more prone to encourage each other in relationships; the irony is that the friends of the girl you are pursuing may take an interest in you. When it rains, it pours. Expect more girls to notice you once you start dating.

With men, friends may provide support but lust after your girl behind your back.

Being shy can mean various things. Someone that is always reserved will be even shyer around you if they like you. So this may be hard to read. But if a guy is outgoing yet shelters himself when he sees you, what do you think this could mean?

As obvious as this may sound, smiling is key. It lets he or she know in an instant how happy they make you.

Any physical sign of affection (clothes on) is also a green light. But this does not mean much if the person is touchy feely with everyone or if alcohol is in the equation.

Sometimes, even platonic relationships seem to go deeper. But if both people are shy and afraid of rejection, no one says anything.

If you find that the other person does many favors for you, cooks for you and takes care of you, then you can be confident that they care. Even if you are not showered with gifts, you see that they make sacrifices for you. This is when you should try to decipher the true meanings of their intentions.
