Dating: Matters Of The Heart

Rhodes Scholar?

If students spent as much time thinking, worrying and focusing on their studies as much they did on meeting and conquering members of the opposite gender, then they would all be Rhodes scholars. Perhaps this explains why Bill Clinton became one.

Relationships: Questions To Ask Yourself, Things To Look Out For

Are You Ready For A Relationship Or Do You Prefer To Be Single?

The first thing to ask yourself is whether you wish to be in a relationship or play the field. This is even more important when you are in school and the faculty recruits new faces.

Advantages Of Relationships

The main advantage of having a steady relationship while in school is an obvious one: convenience.

It may not sound so romantic, but you have school to focus on, work to juggle and you need something to take your mind off reality. Relationships are a good escape because you will not need to be as aggressive when it comes to partying and going out. While having a good time remains the number one reason to party, meeting people of interest usually follows suit.

Having someone in life will help you balance school, work and everything else. Your significant other can serve as a source of comfort when things get tough.

Disadvantages Of Relationships

The disadvantages are clear and numerous. For one, it is very hard to stay interested in one person when you are going through so many changes in your personal life. It is nearly impossible to expect two people in a relationship to evolve in the same direction. Moreover, relationships need to be managed and nurtured. This takes time and precious resources. You will have enough stress with school and work; do you really need the extra hassle of a mate?

Furthermore, the idea of having a mate going to the same school is not so sexy. You may be cast in uncomfortable settings and may need to call a time out or take a breather.

Finally, you will be tempted right and left. If your significant other happens to go to the same school, this will cause some problems. If your mate goes to another school, then your relationship may be on borrowed time.

Long distance relationships are about as impossible to succeed as your hardest exam.
