Chief
Financial Officer (CFO)
The
Chief Financial Officer sets the firm's
financial goals and targets. The CFO controls
operations and monitors results so that
the company steers away form trouble and
gains market leadership. CFOs work with
marketers, researchers, developers and salespeople
but the buck stops at their office. CFOs
also oversee all of the firm's financing
efforts to be used for the expansion of
the firm and the execution of the firm's
business plan. They also measure the performance
of its investments and allocate capital
throughout the firm. Most consider various
merger and acquisition opportunities. Unless
the firm has a separate general counsel,
CFOs are responsible for most government
affairs, ranging from financial reporting,
audits, taxes as well as respecting industry
standards.
