Professors:
the Good,
Bad and the Ugly
The
Bad Professors
The
bad ones seem to be disinterested. After
years of repeating the same shtick, they
see their students, lectures and curriculum
as a downward spiral that becomes increasingly
blurry as the years go by. While they leave
a mark on students, it is not because they
had a hand in their development. Bad professors
view students as a necessary evil. They
have control but for the wrong reasons.
One reason is that discussions are rare
and the lecture is a monotonous soliloquy.
Some professors teach for the balance that
it provides them. Some like the power, others
are risk averse and enjoy the security of
tenure, while many like the stature.
