In the 6th grade, Art Garfunkel met Paul Simon and together, they performed as Tom and Jerry from 1956 to 1960. It was three years later when they started performing under their own names and became one of the biggest acts in music during the 60’s. But after releasing their most successful album, Bridge Over Troubled Water in 1970, they broke up citing personal differences.

Art went onto release a number of albums as a solo artist but never attained the success he had as a duo. The two men reunited for the famous concert in Central Park and went on to work on a new album but Art left because he didn’t agree with Simon’s lyrics. He took a break from music and returned in 1988 but without much success.

2003 saw another reunion for a US tour which was followed by a 2004 tour.
