JERSEY BOYS – THE ORIGINAL CAST RECORDING
features the cast performing the Rock and
Roll Hall of Famer’s biggest hits,
including the #1 smashes – “Rag
Doll,” “Walk Like A Man,”
“Big Girls Don’t Cry”
and “December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night).”
The album also showcases the cast –
John Lloyd Young as Franki Valli; Christian
Hoff as Tommy DeVito; Daniel Reichard as
Gaudio and J. Robert Spencer as Nick Massi
– delivering stirring versions of
“Earth Angel,” “My Boyfriend’s
Back,” “A Sunday Kind of Love,”
“My Eyes Adored You,” “Working
My Way Back To You” and other early-rock
classics.
Previews began October 4 for Jersey Boys,
which is directed by Des McAnuff and based
on the book by Marshall Brickman and Rick
Elice. The musical broke all box office
records at the La Jolla Playhouse, beating
out ticket sales for Rent and Tommy. The
acclaimed production tells the story behind
the rise to fame of four Newark, New Jersey
natives who wrote their own songs, invented
their own identity and sold 175 records
worldwide before they turned 30 years old.
Formed
as a street corner doo-wop group in 1955
by falsetto lead singer Frankie Valli, the
group’s lineup solidified in 1961
with Vallie, Gaudio, Massi and DeVito. A
year later, Franki Vallie and The 4 Seasons
were on their way to becoming one of the
all-time, best-selling pop vocal groups.
For more than a decade, the group recorded
dozens of hits featuring sterling harmonies
that resonated with young lovers everywhere.
