Jeff
Beck started his musical
career as a session player in 1965.
It was a year later, when Eric
Clapton left The Yardbirds, did
Jeff Beck join the group, playing
dual lead guitar with Jimmy
Page. His stint with the band
lasted a mere 18 months, after which
he went on to form his own band called
the Jeff Beck Group. He was on lead
guitar, Rod Stewart took care of vocals,
and Ron Wood was on bass.
The
group disbanded in 1972 and Beck (as
well as the other group members) went
on successful careers. He recorded
several albums throughout the 1980’s
and 1990’s, earning himself
three Grammy awards along the way.
Beck
was one of the first guitarists to
experiment with electronic distortion
(which would later be taken a new
level by Jimi
Hendrix). Another unique aspect
to Beck’s playing, he used his
fingers instead of a guitar pick,
which allowed for more control and
speed.
