Biography:

Jon Stewart, born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz, is currently the anchor of the Daily Show which is a fake news/comedy show which can be seen on the Network Comedy Central. He grew up subject to much anti-Semitic harrasment from classmates and others, but always maintained his sense of humor. After graduating from William and Mary in ’84 he held a variety of jobs, including a contract administrator, a puppeteer, and a bartender. His big break came when he landed the job as the host of the Daily Show after its prior host Craig Kilborn left to become the new host of the Late Late Show. Stewart's combination of political awareness and sharp wit attracted hordes of fans, including many young people and the Daily Show became more popular than ever before.

Stewart has been called the Walter Cronkite for a younger generation. He has also been very public with his criticism of established news sources like CNN, and Fox News, most notably in an exchange with Tucker Carlson of the former CNN show Crossfire.
