Worth noting that the last time the Canadiens rode a rookie goalie in the playoffs, it was 1986 with Patrick Roy.  Incidentally, in 1985, Roy had won the Calder Cup with the farm team.  The 1985-86 Habs squad had a handful of players who were a part of the 1985 Calder team squad, in addition […]

Our Father, Who Art in Bell Center,
Hockey be thy Name.
Thy will be Done, the Cup be Won
On Ice, as well as in the Stands.
Give us this day our Hockey Sticks
And Forgive us our Penalties
As we Forgive those who Cross-Check against us.
Lead us not into Elimination
But Deliver us to Victory.
In the name of the Fans,
Lord Stanley […]

At the risk of jumping back on the bandwagon:
1986 Stanley Cup run ran through NY Rangers.
1993 Stanley Cup run ran through NY Islanders.
I don’t know who will win between Pens and Rangers… but if Montreal does advance, I am hoping they play against the Rangers…

1st Period:
Ironic that RDS was showing where Bruins goalie Tim Thomas was giving up goals throughout the series that Chris Higgins scored his first goal… between Thomas’ legs!
Note to Habs: shoot between his freaking pads!
Koivu was 6/6 in faceoffs in the first period. Maybe that will shut up that douchebag from the French media […]

So the Habs got trounced tonight… this is what happens when we start asking “so how many games do you think we’ll need to beat the Flyers in?”
Beat the Flyers?  Are you freaking crazy?
Second: Carey Price is great… but let him first win a series, let alone a Cup, before we compare him to Dryden […]

Sure it would have been nice to sweep the Bruins - but therein lies the problem: the Canadiens and their fans were getting ahead of themselves, especially considering that the Habs haven’t played all that well in the past two games.
Boston got the OT winner and the series is now 2-1.
A loss sends a wake […]

I was gonna post this after the 3rd… but I did not want to jinx it.
But, you know: any self-respecting Stanley Cup run (1986, 1993, hum, 2008) will have to go through overtime.
Habs 2 - Bruins 0.  Off to Boston we go.

At the risk of bandwagon-jumping, one of the reasons why the 2007-08 season brings with it a whiff of Stanley Cup talk is that our goalie Carey Price reminds us a bit of Patrick Roy and Michael Komisarek reminds us of Chris Chelios.Incidentally, last night Chris Chelios surpassed Patrick Roy with his 248th playoff game, […]
