Meet Matt Duchene Of The Colorado Avalanche

Matt Duchene flew onto the NHL radar in 2009, after he was cut from that year's Canadian World Junior Team. Touted as possibly the best all around player to enter the draft that year, he drew comparisons to Steve Yzerman and Joe Sakic. The race for first choice in 2009's NHL Entry Draft was as tight a call as it has ever been, with John Tavares, Victor Hedman and Duchene pretty much neck-and-neck until the choices were finally made.
