Alexander
the Great Tells History

MY
LEGACY
"I
would rather live a short life of glory
than a long one of obscurity."
Alexander the Great
I achieved my objective.
But unwillingly, I became
known as the tireless leader who never acted
selfishly alive yet died a selfish death
by letting his empire – and his subjects
– crumble once it was no longer his
time to reign.
A good leader does not
simply tell you the time, he teaches you
not only how to build a clock, but to fix
it and to read it as well.
I built a great clock,
but as I raced against time, the clock fell
apart and those that I left behind –
from Greece to India – never managed
to read time properly, let alone fix the
clock when it slowed down and fell behind.
Perhaps
my greatest achievement was knowing that
one is only responsible for his actions
once he is alive, for he cannot control
the afterlife. I may have lived but a mere
thirty-three years, but those thirty-three
will go down in history as the most productive,
eventful and Greatest in time.
