One of the greatest first person shooters and multiplayer experiences on a home console (especially of the Nintendo 64 era) is about to land on a Microsoft Platform. That’s right, Rare Ware was bought out by Microsoft a few years ago, so certain franchises can make the jump to the Xbox. I for one can’t wait to see Elvis again! For this week’s Thursday Flashback I’d like to talk about a classic game from the good old NES days. That’s right, I’m talking about 1988’s Iron Sword: Wizards and Warriors 2. I find it very odd that Donkey Kong hasn’t appeared in a real adventure game since Donkey Kong 64 in 1999 (I’m not counting Donkey Konga, Jungle Beat or any cameo appearances here).
So barring the possibility of a true sequel due to Rare Ware’s long-ago move to Microsoft… I guess I can still hope for an appearance on MTV. Check out this sing-along rap intro that the gorilla and family performed back in the solid old cartridge days! continue reading...
All of the recent hoopla surrounding Capcom’s second-guessing the vitality of the Nintendo platform is starting to raise eyebrows, and in Nintendo’s case moustaches.
Nintendo recently joined forces with Team Ninja to create a more violent Metroid game, Metroid Other M, to follow up the Prime series (which is referred to as the Citizen Kane of game design). continue reading...
