It seems like only yesterday that the Xbox came in and filled the large gap left by Sega, all while changing the face of gaming forever! Learn more after the jump…
That’s right folks, Xbox became a household name way back in 2001, when it went toe to toe with Nintendo’s purple Gamecube and Sony’s unsurpassable PS2.
Back then I was a die hard Nintendo player who was smitten by many of the features of Microsoft’s monolithic sized black Xbox. I know that I wasn’t the only one who took notice of it… my grade 11 wood teacher once yelled at us… “Why don’t you concentrate on the work instead of talking about your Xcubes and GameBoxes” ….see, it was already known by all, even crotchety old teachers! That’s what you call street cred (even if he did confuse the exact name of the system).
To mark the occasion, Microsoft hasn’t just published Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary with sparkling new HD graphics, but a chart detailing their many milestones!
Anyways, check out the chart, its full of interesting facts… I look forward to publishing a similar one for Sony and Nintendo when their anniversaries arrive. But until then, the moment belongs to Microsoft, a company that made a third video game console thrive when others had previously failed!
