outlaw-golf-cover.jpg The raunchiest group of golfers ever assembled.

Golf games have never been at the top of my must play list, but the Outlaw Golf franchise takes away all the elements of the mundane and replaces it with strippers, white want-to-be rappers and over the top caddy beatings. In a word, this piece of buried treasure is ‘Awesome.”

Developed by Hypnotix, the series spawned one golf sequel, aptly titled Outlaw Golf 2 in 2004 (and one solitary outing into the realm of Tennis). Obviously, all are highly recommended.

In the original, players take control of 10 playable characters, each with their own unique caddy. Despite only having 3 golf courses, it made up for it with tons of crude humor.

The original’s player roster included many outrageous personalities, have a look:

Aside from the characters, Outlaw Golf incorporated the unique “Composure Meter” to the game. Basically, the better you played, the higher your composure rating (meaning that the shot goes where it needs to go). On the flip slide, the worse you’re playing, the distance on your clubs decreases to simulate frustration. So yah, the more shots you miss, the more frustrated you get!

A solution to this vicious circle is to beat your caddy. It’s basically a one-sides fist fight in which you must land button presses at the appropriate times. And I’ll tell yah, you never felt better after this little violent segment.

If only life presented you with such an entertaining and fun solution to de-stress.

Think that’s cool? Well get this, actor and comedian Steve Carell provides the commentator track!

Being a 1-4 player game with attitude I highly recommend you buy this game! But forgetting the extra fun factors, it really is a solid golf simulator. Plus, both games still occupy bargain bins.

Check out the gameplay trailer for the second title:
