We’ve known for quite some time at WatchMojo.com that sanother hardware revision was coming to the Xbox 360 console. We also knew this would be Microsoft’s answer to Sony’s popular PS3 Slim redesign. So here is the leaked motherboard pic (if sources can be trusted) of the newest hardware revision “Valhalla.”

If you take a look at the pretty clean and small form factor you may notice that a single fan and heat-sink covers a CPU/GPU combo chip. This newfangled piece of tech will allow for a complete size reduction of the console. Unsurprisingly, it may make for an even smaller console then Sony’s tech.

It is also rumored, and illustrated by this photo that the two Memory Unit slots will disappear. A likely scenario considering the newest update that up to 32GB of USB flash memory can be used for everything the hard-drive does with an upcoming firmware update. Hopefully, as a result we’ll get more then one rear USB slot this time. A slot loading drive would be nice as well, as opposed to the old tray loading mechanism. No drive is featured in the pic, so it’s anyone’s guess.

Just to add viability to the photo, Engadget has discovered that Microsoft is currently hiring a motherboard design engineer for the Xbox 360 Console Development Team. So, this probably means that this is an early redesign pic.

The team here is forecasting an E3 reveal, or official announcement for the console redesign.

There have been several redesigns over the life of the platform.

-Xenon
-Zephyr (Added HDMI output)
-Falcon (Power consumption shrank to 175 from 205 watts, smaller processor. Reliability doubled)
-Jasper (power consumption went down to 150 watts, Graphics Processor decreased in size)
-Valhalla (Combo GPU/Processor Chip, power consumption expected to be substantially lower)

Is this the news you have been waiting for before making your console purchase?
