If you’re like me, then you may be relying on a paltry 20GB hard drive for your Xbox 360. While it’s more then enough for game saves and downloading content, demos and one or two full game installs, it really does pale in comparison to larger drives and requires constant data management.

Well check this out… it seems that Microsoft is ending it’s reign of storage terrorism which it has long conducted with expensive proprietary memory devices and hard drives.

According to Joystiq, you may soon be able to use your own cheap USB storage on the console. However, it does have a few kinks, as described by their article, in which they claim that you’ll be able to use up to only two devices with 16GB of storage each. This means that you’ll have only an additional 32GB to play with. Still, better then what I have now!

Joystiq has also hinted that a slimmed down Xbox 360 motherboard image has been found illustrating the possibility of a slim downed version of the system without the two face-plate memory unit slots.

I guess this is great news for people who have been jumping on the Arcade Console package that has been retailing for under $130
