When it comes to gaming, say what you will about Nintendo, but they have always led the innovation charge. Analogue Stick, Rumble Pak, colored consoles and Motion Controls all from the Big N’s bag of tricks. So, how does Nintendo feel when their competitors churn out a blatant rip off of their products, such as the PS3’s new Move Motion controller? Turns out they feel pretty darn embarrassed for them this time.

According to an interview by Kotaku, Nintendo’s American boss Reggie Fils-Aimé says Nintendo would never return the favor and rip off their rivals, and that he is both ‘flattered’ by Sony’s very Wii-like Move tech and a bit embarrassed that their rival has very closely imitated the Wii’s motion template.

in fact, this is probably the face he had when he saw the first pic of Sony’s new motion wand:

“I think we would have been embarrassed to do what our competitors are currently doing,” he told Kotaku.

Reggie then went on to tell IGN: “If imitation is the most sincere form of flattery then I’m blushing I’m so flattered…From our standpoint, motion control is core to what we do. We believe that we’ve brought a range of different experiences that utilize the motion controller and we pride ourselves on being innovators in the space and we’re going to continue to innovate. I think the key question is, how will they respond when we continue to innovate if this is their best effort?”

Ouch. I think the better should be, when does Nintendo sue the pants off of Sony. Honestly, Sony is less then a move away from just sticking a PS3 sticker on the Wii Remote and nun-chucks!
