Dublin features a number of statues and memorials. Irish Labour Party founder Jim Larkin is immortalized for attempting to better the conditions for the city’s workers. The statue of Molly Malone depicts a character in the song ‘Cockles and Mussels.’ Many of Dublin’s statues have been given bawdy nicknames. Molly Malone is known as ‘the Tart with the Cart,’ James Joyce as ‘The Prick with the stick,’ and Oscar Wilde as, ‘The Fag on the Crag.’ Rude nicknames notwithstanding, these statues are some of the city’s most popular attractions.
