This New Year’s Eve is extra special for a couple of reasons. For one, as usual, new year’s eve falls on my wife’s birthday… but this year, she’s turning El Grande 30. Yes, I know, she looks 13, but she’s turning 30 (I’ll be going through that in March). Adding to all of this is the fact that we’re expecting our first child in late May/early June.

Naturally, we thought of different ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve… and sitting on 250,000 or so credit card points, “I decided to” actually cash in a bunch of them and do something really different. We booked a room at the world-reknowned Fairmount Montebello hotel in Montebello, nestled in the woods, halfway between Canada’s capital Ottawa and Montreal, where we reside.
