If you’re like me you enjoy watching NFL Football and enjoy playing in a Fantasy Football league every year. If you’re also like me you’re pretty bad at Fantasy Football, except for that one year that I kicked ass in a Survival pool. Well, now things can get a bit easier with numberFire, a website that uses the power of numbers and statistics to help you make decisions. Here’s how they explain things, continue reading...
To a certain extent, it’s fair to refer to Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez as one of the best players in baseball. From a fantasy baseball perspective, he’s easily in the top five and has been the first shortstop off the board for a few years now (although that has to do with position scarcity and/or the myth of position scarcity). That said, in the past few years we’ve all witnessed times where Han-Ram doesn’t seem to be giving it his all. continue reading...
Though this will undoubtedly matter more to the thousands/millions of fantasy baseball heads than actual baseball fans, Stephen Strasburg, in his first start for the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs, was pretty well dominant. In his first start for Syracuse after destroying Double-A hitters for the Harrisburg Senators (22 IP, 3-1. 1.64 ERA, 27 K, 6 BB), Baseball Jesus pitched 6 innings of 1-hit ball against the Gwinnett Braves, striking out six and walking one along the way. He threw 45 of 65 pitches for strikes, and the Chiefs won the game 7-0. continue reading...

Reports are coming out of Chi-town that Alfonso Soriano, arguably the jewel of this year’s free agent class, has signed with my Chicago Cubs for $136M over eight years.
(Note: When it comes to baseball, I’m a Cubs fan and a Jays fan, and as such, you can’t hang me with “but you said you were a Cubs fan” comments when I cheer for the Jays.) continue reading...

The Browns/Steelers game is particularly captivating, though if I have to hear the Browns’ D referred to as a “bend but not break” unit, like the colour guys just discovered the phrase in a fortune cookie, I think I’m going to lose it.
Also, you have to enjoy the wisdom of the commentator who says, after Pittsburgh went ahead 24-20 with 0:32 left on the clock, something to the effect of: “Cleveland’s going to have to get the ball down the field.” continue reading...

I have him on both of my Yahoo! fantasy teams, but I’m still not convinced that Rex Grossman is the real deal. At times he looks like the second coming of Joe Montana: very self-assured in the pocket, throwing these long, beautiful TD passes, being a leader.
And then at others (like every time I start him…) he looks like a second-string high school signal caller: rushing plays, unsure of himself, second-guessing himself, unable to make adjustments, exuding “I don’t really know what I’m doing…” continue reading...
If you’re into fantasy sports, this just might be the best time of year for you. The NFL season just passed its mid-way point, the NHL season is in its second month, and the NBA season just started. If you’re like me, you’re spending at least 45 minutes daily adjusting, checking stats, and making sure you’re in line for a championship trophy at season’s end. If you’re in a fantasy basketball league and are continually looking for some quality players that might still be available, you’ve come to the right place for advice, grasshopper.
[That said, I thought I had scored the coup of the year scooping Channing Frye off the waiver wire before the season started and he’s rewarded me with 5.1PPG and 4.8RPG. So yeah, take what I say with a grain of salt.] continue reading...
