It was an intense game that saw Canada give up its early lead and force an overtime against the USA. However, hockey’s most intense matchup ended with Crosby swooping in to deliver the final goal. As the Canadian crowds exploded in hugs and cheers it was clear that Canadians have never felt more proud of their country. Indeed, having the game be played on Canadian soil caused the match to hold a weight beyond measure.
And what an Olympic year this has been for the Canucks. Not only did the country break the all-time Winter Olympic count with 14 gold medals, but this was also the first time Canadians have scored Gold on home soil…
As you can imagine, Canadian streets where filled with the sounds of car horns and proud frantic flag wavers. And in true Canadian fashion spectators even offered compliments and apologies to the American team, who delivered a very respectable challenge. But in the end, it was all maple leafs.
