Landing on the cover of Sports Illustrated is one of the best things to happen for an athletes career.
If you’re a woman like Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn it can be considered an even greater achievement since over the “over the last 60 years researchers have shown that about 4% of all SI covers have portrayed women.”
The pose of Vonn which resembles the “tuck” pose that a skier would normally take when competing is stirring up some controversy, with some saying that this position objectifies Vonn rather than appreciate her athletic ability.
This seems to be ridiculous! Yes, the tuck may be somewhat exaggerated, but not by much and she is fully dressed! This would probably not even have been an issue had she not been beautiful…
As a matter of fact, another skier was featured in a very similar pose in 1992 SI Winter issue with no issues.
