PepsiCo has come up with a plan to help fight childhood obesity.

PepsiCo Inc., along with Coca Cola Inc., have worked together with The World Heart Federation to adopt guidelines to have all sugary drinks removed from schools in the US by 2012.

“The World Heart Federation has been negotiating with soft drink makers to have them remove sugary beverages from schools for the past year as it looks to fight a rise in childhood obesity, which can lead to diabetes, heart problems and other ailments.”

Although this seems like a good way to cut sugar out of the younger generations diets, healthy eating tips and exercise regiments would need to be incorporated in the curriculum as well.

I wonder if there is an alternative motive for the companies-maybe they’ll start selling soda to kids on campus from their coats for a bigger profit…who knows?
