I debated posting this because I don’t want to give ANY credence to these people. The Westboro Baptist Church, led by Fred Phelps, is full of hate-mongering. To give them publicity is probably letting them win. I just think people need to know.
The church is a hate group. Their websites have such URLs as GodHatesFags.com, GodHatesAmerica.com. Baptists - those unaffiliated with this church - make it very clear the two factions have nothing to do with each other. The Westboro Church gained most of their notoriety after picketing gay pride events and funerals, and then picketing the funerals of soldiers who died in Iraq. They also recently threatened to cross the border into Canada to picket the funeral of Tim McLean, the victim of the Greyhound bus tragedy. The group hates any society that has “turned its back on God,” and thinks homosexuality should be a capital crime. They are also racist. continue reading...
