“Take Me Over” is the first official single from Cut Copy’s upcoming Zonoscope album and word from the band is that this tune is one of the more “pop” moments on the record. This makes sense, much of the buzz regarding the new album included mentions of new psychadelic directions and “Take Me Over” is definitely not that. If you liked Cut Copy’s synth-y electropop from their debut album, then you’ll love this song. I’m admittedly a bit late to the Passion Pit party, but who really cares. I had heard a few tunes from this band’s debut album Manners but nothing really jumped out at me until I heard the song “Moth’s Wings” in my sisters fiancee’s car the other day. Once I’d figured out who I was listening to I had to immediately re-evaluate why I had written these guys off in the first place. Perhaps it was the synth-y sheen that was all over the music, or the giddy falsetto that permeates all of vocalist Michael Angelakos’ songs… whatever it was, it all somehow came together in this song and made sense. I think it also has something to do with the quiet verses that explode into joyous, bombastic choruses that will not leave my head and force me to play the song at least 3 times in a row everytime I listen to it… Enjoy: continue reading...
