I’m digging into the archives today for the featured Mp3 of the week. Superdrag is one of my all-time favorite bands and also a band that never got the attention it deserved. Yes, you’d probably recognize their 1996 hit single “Sucked Out“, but what you probably don’t know is that their entire body of work as a band was terrific and criminally overlooked. The song that I chose is “Phaser” from their debut album Regretfully Yours. It’s a lot more representative of the bands sound and is jam packed with buzzy guitars and vocals that seem to almost float over top of everything. Enjoy: continue reading...
The much underrated Superdrag is back with its first album in 7 years, Industry Giants, and a new video for the song “Aspertame”. The album is officially out on the 17th of March but you can hear new tunes at MySpace and check out the video below. Can’t wait to hear the whole album! continue reading...
Superdrag is in my opinion one of the most underrated bands of the last 10-15 years. Their first 2 albums are my favorites and this newly reunited version of Superdrag features all the original band members who contributed to those albums. The band has recorded a new album titled Industry Giants and it will be available in March 2009. Here’s a few words from the band:
The Superdrag reunion was the talk of 2007, their performances at Bonnaroo and Monolith were the talk of 2008, and 2009 will be the year of Industry Giants, the new album from Knoxville’s favorite sons Superdrag. Industry Giants will be the first studio album by the reunited line-up of Coffey, Davis, Fisher, and Pappas since ‘98’s Head Trip In Every Key. continue reading...
A new album from Superdrag with the original lineup? Hell yes! Here’s the news straight from the band:
Lastly, the rumors are true, it’s official: Superdrag’s original line-up will reconvene in the recording studio in February to begin work on our first new recording project together since 1998’s “Head Trip In Every Key.” I can’t say much more about the songs themselves (apart from what’s already been posted on our MySpace page which will be the only “official” taste of the new music until the record drops), but I will say that this HAS to be our best album, otherwise there’s really no point, is there? We are wholly committed to breaking the Law of Physics that states, “REUNION ALBUMS, BY DEFINITION, MUST BE TERRIBLE.” So we’ll see how it goes! Personally, I am really excited about the way the new music is unfolding and I hope you will be too. I am really thankful to be working on new music with Brandon, Don and Tom this year. continue reading...
After an unexpected reunion tour this fall the guys in Superdrag have again surprised loyal fans with 2 new songs available on their MySpace page. Both songs are fantastic and one can only hope that this means they’ll be recording a new album in the near future. This band is criminally underappreciated and I’d love nothing more than for these guys to get some more attention. Check out the awesome new songs and cross your fingers: continue reading...
Wow, this is fantastic news! After a few months of rumors and hints Superdrag has finally announced that they’re reuniting with their original lineup and embarking on a short tour. For an underrated band that never really got the respect they deserved, its nice to see them still giving back to the fans. Here is a message from the band: continue reading...
