So much good music was released in 2011 that it was quite difficult to narrow down my 20 favourite albums of the year. As such, I’ve also included some Honourable Mentions. I didn’t have the chance to write a quick blurb for each album, so you’ll have to take my word that these are definitely the 20 albums that I personally enjoyed the most in 2011. Each album entry is hyperlinked to a YouTube video of my favorite song from said album. Enjoy/criticize/laugh/agree: continue reading...

Man, I have been really anticipating the performances of the new songs from The King Of Limbs and I was not left disappointed. Much of the new album was electronic and loop based and seeing Radiohead bring the songs to life in a live setting is amazing. It literally breathes new energy into the songs and if you’ve familiarized yourself with TKOL then you’ll no doubt enjoy these versions even more. Check out the entire performance ‘from the basement’ as recorded by the BBC: continue reading...
Yes, I featured Radiohead only a few weeks ago in the Live Flashback, and yes, Glastonbury isn’t “flashing back” very far (it was last weekend), but this is Radiohead performing the new tunes from The King Of Limbs for the first time in a surprise special set at Glastonbury and they damn well deserve another feature anyways… So yeah, that’s pretty much it. Here is Radiohead performing both “Lotus Flower” and, a bonus 2nd clip!, “Bloom” from The King Of Limbs. These tunes sound a lot more muscular in a live setting. Very exciting! God I hope they tour again soon… Enjoy: continue reading...

If anyone’s paying attention then they’ll know that I’ve featured Radiohead in the past in the Live Flashback series. And why wouldn’t I? They’re one of the all time greatest live bands and there is an almost never-ending supply of amazing videos available on YouTube… It’s only a matter of time before I feature them a third time! In any case, I wanted to highlight a different side of the band, where the first performance I featured, “There, There”, was a straight up, guitar-based, Radiohead rock song, todays song, “Idioteque”, shows the band in a completely different mode. continue reading...
How could I not choose a Radiohead song as the Mp3 of the week? With The King Of Limbs being sprung on us under a week ago I’m sure fans are still digesting and getting familiar the new music from the band. The lead single and most accessible song (pretty much the only one that has anything resembling a chorus) is “Lotus Flower” and it’s a good one. If you for some reason haven’t gotten around to listening to the TKOL yet, then this song is as good a place to start as any. Thom’s falsetto is in full effect and floats along perfectly over the slinky beat and bassline. I already can’t wait to hear this one performed live. Enjoy: continue reading...
