As I had previously suspected, this is pure garbage. It’s hard to see what both parties were thinking even releasing this song to the public, let alone creating it in the first place? This is still only one song from a whole album of songs called Lulu, so maybe it’s still to early to pass such harsh criticism, but this really does not bode well. Take a listen to “The View” below: continue reading...
Not sure about this… my first thought is that it sounds terrible. I love Metallica and I love Lou Reed, and I’ll need to listen to this project in its entirety before I make a final decision, but yeah… this is garbage. continue reading...
The Strokes are primed to make their long awaited comeback and to start things off they are going to offer the first single “Under Cover Of Darkness” as a free download starting tomorrow February 9th. The new album, and first in 6 years, is titled Angles and officially hits the street on March 21st. The band has described the new music as a return to “classic” sounding Strokes, which is interesting considering they’ve only released 3 albums… but they’ve leaked a brief snippet of “Under Cover Of Darkness” and the result is a tantalizing blast of music that can only be described as Strokes-y. A short while ago a million and forty music journos and bloggers (myself included, as you can see here) expressed well, whatever they cared to express about the fact that Metric was asked to write a song for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack and happily obliged. The better among these folks probably mentioned that the track was more or less decided upon to be the lead-off track to the album and most probably opined that this represents a stunning bit of good fortune for Metric, as the soundtrack to one of the year’s presumed biggest box office hits is almost certain to be bought and listened to by scores of people (even if they’re mostly tweens, teens, and undersexed housewives). continue reading...
If there was ever a question of what would come of Wolfmother after the departure of two founding members then now is the time to stop asking and start listening. Wolfmother has just unveiled their entire forthcoming album, Cosmic Egg, on MySpace and with each track a nail in the coffin of the past is hammered further in resulting in a full blown rock explosion into the present. When describing the new Wolfmother Kerrang! said the band, “have exceeded expectation, proving themselves modern masters of riff-centered, bass-heavy bong rock alchemy. Almost every track contains something fresh and off kilter while remaining immediate and throat-grabbing at the same time.” continue reading...
