My first choice was to highlight an older performance of this song and I found an awesome 1988 version of “Where Is My Mind”, but alas, the YouTube video had embedding disabled. Check out that video here if interested, it’s pretty great. In the end I chose a recent performance by the reunited band from a festival in France and it’s almost equally as good. First of all it’s pretty amazing that The Pixies ever reunited in the first place, and second of all the band still sounds fantastic. Frank Black has lost a little bit of the edge that his voice once had, but their overall sound might be more muscular and impressive than ever. It doesn’t hurt that the festival crowd is providing some very effective backup vocals, but, if needed, this should reaffirm your faith in cult-status “bands that hated each other” reunions.
