McCartney played SNL over the weekend and managed to perform 5 songs and appear in a number of skits.  Nobody does it as well or as respectfully as Paul.  The man is a true legend and we’re lucky to still have him around and in such good shape.   Watch him perform what might be the greatest song in the history of popular music (granted most of it was written by Lennon), “A Day In The Life” with a nice segway into “Give Peace A Chance”.  Enjoy and be sure to sniff out the rest of the performances at NBC.com: continue reading...

I’m not sure why this has always been such a huge deal to people. It’s not like it was impossible to find digital music by the Beatles online, and it’s not like it was extremely difficult to rip the files from the CD’s that you or your parents probably already owned.  I guess it was the whole principle of the the situation… the greatest band of all time being the only holdouts to the digital age or some other bullshit excuse.  In any case, now you can spend either $12.99 per album or $1.29 for a single song.  Or if you’re really crazy you can spend $150 for the entire anthology.   continue reading...

Ok, so I guess this is kind of the “ultimate” Live Flashback, but I’ll be going to see Paul McCartney in 2 days and I’m feeling quite excited.  The Beatles rooftop performance of 1969 was an idea proposed as a way to end the Let It Be film they were working on and on a chilly Thursday at lunchtime the band went up unannounced to the roof of their downtown London studio and played 5 songs before being shutdown by the police.   It’s considered the last public performance by the band.  It’s also an incredible glimpse into a band that was at the end of its time together, but still an undeniable force of creativity and talent.   While I would have hated to see The Beatles tour together into their 80’s like the Rolling Stones, it would have been amazing to have more visual documentation of their abilities as performers together.  That being said, I cannot wait to see Paul in a few nights!  Enjoy the best band of all time performing “Get Back” and “Don’t Let Me Down”: continue reading...
