After a long delay between their self-titled debut and Helplessness Blues, Fleet Foxes and their harmony drenched folk music are finally back on the scene. A first impression of the new album is that it doesn’t feature as many of the instantly memorable songs that the first one did, but that’s not to say there’s any drop in quality. In fact the album as a whole might be better and repeated listens will surely reveal a rotating list of favorite songs. The first song to stand out to me was “The Shrine/An Argument” for it features a variety of new sounds and ideas for the band. Plus it’s the first time you’ll hear singer Robin Pecknold’s voice strained enough that it cracks and the emotion poured into the song immediately becomes apparent. Enjoy: continue reading...
With a new album finally about to drop, Fleet Foxes are officially back on the scene. The new album is titled Helplessness Blues and is available for purchase on May 3rd. What better way to celebrate their return than to feature one of their many incredible live performances. For a sound built on gentle melodies and complex harmonies, it’s quite amazing to see them dominate a large stage like Glastonbury.
