With Feist set to release her new album Metals on October 4th (which you can now stream online) it seemed appropriate to feature her in this weeks Flashback. This particular solo performance of “Mushaboom” was my first exposure to Leslie Feist and I pretty much fell in love with her immediately. Her moniter apparently cuts out mid song and she confusedly stops playing, but after a quick chat with the sound man she has no problem recovering. Epic, grandiose, textured… the first tune “World Sick” from Broken Social Scene’s new album is pretty stunning, yet almost exactly what you’d expect from this wily group of musicians. Expectations are pretty high for the new album titled Forgiveness Rock Record and based on this first song it appears that fans need not worry. The “band” has been pared down to about 6 regulars but the record features guest performances from many of the past contributors including Feist and Emily Haines.
