What do you know… the week that I feature PJ in the Live Flashback and see the band perform, they also release a new MP3 for the internet to enjoy. Best band ever? Yes. The song is called “Ole” and was recorded in honor of the bands 20th anniversary which is being celebrated in a variety of ways. It’s a fun tune. Twenty years along and Pearl Jam can still rock harder than anyone. Enjoy it loudly: continue reading...
Ok, so this only happened a few days ago, but I’m going to see Pearl Jam tonight and I’m really excited and thought that this was a pretty cool performance. Today’s Live Flashback goes back this past weekend where Pearl Jam held a festival in their own honor (and rightly so after 20 years as a band) and during the encore they played some Temple Of The Dog songs with old friend Chris Cornell. Proper performances of this amazing song don’t happen very often. Enjoy: continue reading...
If you’re a Pearl Jam fan (and you should be), then this will make you happy. The trailer for Pearl Jam Twenty, a documentary by Cameron Crowe: continue reading...
2011 is a big year for Pearl Jam. 20 years along and fans get a documentary, a tour, a festival and a solo album from Eddie Vedder. All four of these things are very exciting and are proof of a band not content to sit on its past successes and grow old and fat. It’s reassuring to see a band like Pearl Jam still thriving in a musical landscape flush with Bieber’s and American Idol’s. continue reading...
Ok, so it’s really not much, it’s only a teaser, but it does get me pretty excited for this documentary. Pearl Jam Twenty is a look back at the history and career of one of the greatest bands of my generation and it’s directed by Cameron Crowe, a guy who directed one of my favorite all time movies, Almost Famous. So, yeah… I’m pretty excited to watch this. Here’s the teaser: continue reading...
Eddie Vedder, the lead singer and one of four guitarists of the alternative rock band, Pearl Jam, got married for a second time this past weekend to model Jill McCormick, reports Rolling Stone Magazine.
Pearl Jam make a statement about Ocean conservation. Take that oil spill! We need more bands like Pearl Jam. Great tune as well, continue reading...
It was only a matter of time before I included a Pearl Jam performance in the weekly Live Flashback segment… and while I maintain that Pearl Jam is the greatest American rock band of the last 20 years, it’s also worth mentioning the fact that they are a terrific cover band as well. Despite Eddie Vedder having one of the most recognizable voices in rock, he’s quite versatile when it comes to performing other bands songs. In this flashback I’ve highlighted the band performing Neil Young’s classic, “Harvest Moon” and actually this is another performance that I was lucky enough to be in attendance for. If you ever want to kill 3 hours or so just head to Youtube and click around looking for PJ’s live videos, they’re all pretty much amazing. In the meantime enjoy this one featuring Sleater-Kinney on back-up vocals: continue reading...
In this new series of posts I’ll be highlighting some of my personal favorite live performances, enjoy!
Conan is really riding high right now… after getting royally shafted by NBC he’s been getting nothing but love from fan’s and critics alike and decided to hit the road with a show called “The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour” that’s been getting great reviews. It never hurts when friends like Eddie Vedder show up. Here’s Eddie performing “Oh Coco” and “Baba O’Rielly” with bandmate Mike McCready and Conan’s former Tonight Show band, clips via Rock it Out!
