I can’t resist featuring “Flashing Lights” as this weeks Video of the Week. This clip first started popping up online a few days ago and it only seemed like a “portion” of the video that itself was cryptic and bizarre. The clip is directed by non other than Spike Jonze (West also has a co-directing credit) and stars a beautiful half naked woman, a bound and gagged Kanye and a violent bludgeoning among other things. Also, as mentioned it ends rather abruptly and about a minute before the recorded album version of the song leading many to believe there’s a missing ending. All this and I haven’t even mentioned how great the song is! A dark and dramatic song with a synth line and sample that you won’t soon be getting out of your head… Well done to both Jonze and West for crafting an intriguing and cinematic video that more than does the song justice.
