2011 is a big year for Pearl Jam. 20 years along and fans get a documentary, a tour, a festival and a solo album from Eddie Vedder. All four of these things are very exciting and are proof of a band not content to sit on its past successes and grow old and fat. It’s reassuring to see a band like Pearl Jam still thriving in a musical landscape flush with Bieber’s and American Idol’s. continue reading...

Not only does it capture a band at its peak performing for the last time, but it captures an entire generation and era of music. The ‘zeitgeist’ if you will. Plus having Martin Scorsese directing things makes it real pretty to look at. Do yourself a favor and watch the entire concert sometime. Until then, here’s Van Morrison singing “Caravan” backed up by The Band: continue reading...
